GoFundMe has closed prominent fundraising campaigns and accounts for Palestine, including for registered non-profit Al Awda in 2019.
In 2024, during the Gaza genocide, GoFundMe has been known to delay or complicate the release of funds to families in Gaza, which it does not do with fundraisers elsewhere in the world. In March, it released a statement regarding this management of campaigns for Palestinian beneficiaries with a problematic ‘both sides’ stance.
