After three years of ongoing direct action by Palestine Action, Elbit Systems UK has now lost its largest ever British arms contract of £2.1bn with the Ministry of Defense.
The government has claimed this move is due to its decommissioning of Watchkeeper drones, despite previously stating this would not be until 2042. As outlined by Palestine Action, the Watchkeeper drone, “custom-made for the British Ministry of Defence (MOD), is modelled entirely upon the Hermes drone produced by Elbit for the Israeli military. The Hermes 450, is routinely used to massacre and surveil the Palestinian people, and is marketed as “battle-tested” upon them as a result”.
