❌ In 2018, Netflix platformed the series Fauda created by two former IOF soldiers about an undercover ‘anti-terror unit’ operating in the West Bank. The show, which is still available on the platform today, was slammed by the BDS movement as “racist Israeli propaganda” which legitimises violence against Palestinians.
In November 2024, Netflix again has found itself under fire — firstly for removing Palestinian Stories, a collection of 32 films about the Palestinian experience and secondly, for casting Israeli actress Noa Cohen as ‘Mary’ in its new biblical exclusive (also titled ‘Mary’), featuring other Israeli actors.
